As a kindergarten teacher one of my favorite times of the year was Valentines Day! Because this holiday often brings sweets on overload, I loved seeing creative and candy-free classroom Valentines. The inspiration for the Valentines I gave away to my students came from one of our favorite books to read in class. Monkey and Duck Quack Up by Jennifer Hamburg is packed with hilarity and perfect for teaching rhyming. The ending is my absolute favorite, and it always took my students by surprise!

Because my students always make me laugh, I gave away mini rubber duckies attached to a Valentine that read, "You Quack Me Up, Valentine!" You can download the printable below.
Melting old crayons into adorable hearts is the perfect upcycle! Stinkí Pig Studios made a cute video tutorial on making heart-shaped crayons. Set your oven to 250 degrees, soak your crayons in hot water so that the paper peels of easily, break the crayons into pieces, place them in a silicone oven-safe mold, bake for 10-13 minutes, and wait 20 minutes for crayons to cool. Attach heart-shaped crayons to the "color your heart out" printable below!
